In 2011 AAA began working with Urban Sign Group to implement their newly developed interior signage program. The sign package consisted of several distinct elements interspersed through the store, many of which called for the use of unconventional signage materials. Urban Sign Group was tasked with bringing AAA's vision to life with a process involving design, layout, and prototyping. Additionally, implementation of the program posed its own set of challenges with multi-day detail intensive installations and airtight store opening deadlines across the entire Mid-Atlantic region.
How We Solve Them
Urban Sign Group got to work quickly innovating solutions for AAA's interior signage program. Signage was developed around the function of adaptability, as magnetic panels and graphics were used to accommodate AAA's revolving and dynamic messaging. Translucent and semi-translucent graphics provided direction in the Map and Tourbook Lounge while also providing visibility into the full-service automotive service center. Low-profile lightboxes designated service areas with high-resolution graphics that remained easily changed.
Ensuring signage was installed to AAA standards, Urban Sign Group formed and dispatched a specialized installation team to bring the signage plan to life at each location, often staying on-site over multiple days to ensure project completion.
Impressed with the continued execution of the interior signage package, AAA awarded Urban Sign Group the exterior sign package in 2015, including channel letters, pylon and monument signs, and digital signage. Today, Urban Sign Group has installed signage at over 200 AAA locations.
